ROBETEK Design Labs

SuperCaps_01 (11)ROBETEK Design Labs set up its own Bionic & Technological Learning Network, a research network linking ROBETEK to well-known innovators   in the Research Triangle Park, Colleges, Universities, Institutes, development companies, private inventors & individuals in the greater makers communities.  It is the start of a dynamic and open exchange of ideas with the core team consisting of specialists in many disciplines including engineers, scientists, manufacturers, students, & designers.


As a development partner this positions ROBETEK Design Labs as a driving force for innovation and provides complex insights and approaches to developing and optimising new products and applications.

The Future Concepts of the Bionic Learning Network serve as development platforms that combine a wide diversity of technologies and components – from manufacturing concepts via series products, up to software and control or regulation technologies.

By providing appropriate components, solutions, services and expertise, ROBETEK supports its customers by being a go-to source for planning, automating & future proofing businesses and processes.  We see ourselves as technology consultants to the emerging makers and automation communities, lateral thinkers and providers of solutions. 

ROBETEK’s focus in the Bionic Learning Network is centered on taking the concept of Multi-Million Dollar Machines and Manufacturing processes and scaling down to where the average Joe; like me, can reproduce high quality products in the backyard tool shed, garage, or small manufacturing centers.  It derives synergy from the now growing makers movement, which is beginning to see talent and skillsets revitalized as new & innovative products enter the marketplace.

We are interested in bringing to Eastern North Carolina a diverse mix of interests and ideas, and hope to reap a bounty of new directions  as we expose the under-served and often forgotten corners of our community to the rich world of making.

What is IoT?

IoT is the concept of network connectivity. According to Wikipedia, the internet of things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, buildings and other items—embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity that enables these objects to collect and exchange data. IoT enables device data to exchange through network and if the user analyses it, IoT will be able to provide customized service to the user.


The Makers Movement!

The Makers culture and community is to be applauded for a new wave of inventions and innovations springing forth; it is this contemporary subculture, representing a technology-based extension of DIY culture that fosters personal fabrication of devices and allows people to manufacture custom objects on-demand.

The New York Times called makers, ‘kitchen table industrialists’.

Typical interests enjoyed by the maker subculture include engineering-oriented pursuits such as electronics, robotics, 3-D printing, 2D plotter cutting, waterjet cutting, and the use of CNC tools (even applied to embroidery), as well as more traditional activities such as metalworking, woodworking, and traditional arts and crafts. The whole print-on-demand industry is another example, where authors can produce books even one at a time.
